Commanding officer: Captain Gabriel S. Kendrick

Kendrick’s command operated under Colonel Porter. Kendrick had a skirmish with Union troops about a mile west of the present (1887) village of La Belle in Lewis County on October 1, 1862. They were driven off with the loss of one man. He surrendered with 27 men on October 11, 1862, near the vicinity of Kirksville, Missouri and sent south and exchanged. Kendrick reorganized his company and served in the CSA in Arkansas and Louisiana. At the battle of Kirksville on August 6, 1862 he had 120 men of which 43 were killed or wounded at the site.”
