Burrow’s Tennessee Cavalry Battalion (State Troops)

Commanding officer: Lt. Colonel Aaron Burrow

This unit was raised in West Tennessee in the summer of 1862. Five or six companies had been raised when Lt. Colonel Burrow was killed in August and September 1862. In October five companies had been organized as Partisan Rangers. It was later raised to regiment under Colonel Robert V. Richardson and also known as the 1st or the 12th Tennessee Partisan Ranger Regiment. Later it was the 12th Tennessere Cavalry Regiment.
