N0. 347 CIW CHAPTER 17 VIRGINIA D.B. BALDWIN’S CONFEDERATE PARTISAN RANGER COMPANY

Commanding officer: Captain Daniel B. Baldwin

The unit was organized in the fall of 1862 and was accepted by the Confederate War Department as a Partisan Ranger unit. It was attached to the Department of Western Virginia and fought during Carter´s Raid in East Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia in December, 1862 to January, 1863. The company was disbanded in January, 1863, and some members of the unit saw additional service in the 19th Virginia Cavalry.
