N0. 355 CIW CHAPTER 17 VIRGINIA 62ND CONFEDERATE MOUNTED INFANTRY ALSO IMBODEN’S PARTISAN RANGERS

Commanding officers: Colonel John D. Imboden and George H.Smith.

Lt. Colonels Robert L. Doyle and David B. Lang

Majors Houston Hall and George W. Imboden

The regiment was organized in September, 1862. Until December the unit was composed by both infantry and cavalry. Then the cavalry companies united with the 18th Regiment Virginia Cavalry.

The command was mounted in 1863 and fought in Western Virginia and in the Shenandoah Valley. It disbanded in April, 1865.
